N. Shepherd Bus. Alliance Reboot ( pub. 7/28/2022)

We’re re-starting the North Shepherd Community Alliance! Wabash Feed and Garden is hosting a “restart meeting” for the North Shepherd Community Alliance (NSCA) Thursday August 25th at 6:15pm at our shop at 4537 N. Shepherd. We will be providing a light meal along with beverages and spirits.  This is a “circle the wagons” meeting to judge the level of interest that exists in the community for an organization like the Alliance. We were really beginning to get some nice traction when COVID hit and so we must take a step back, regroup and hopefully move forward again.Since we last met, Kathryn Van Der Pol, who was the heart and soul of NSCA, has sold her business and moved to Chappell Hill. My name is Betty Heacker and I have agreed to give restarting this group a go. I believe there is a real benefit to this organization because NSCA bridges ALL divides.  We are THE place where civic associations, business entities, super neighborhoods, schools and churches in this area can meet to discuss shared concerns and ideas to improve our shared space.

I cannot do this alone. If you are interested in making a small contribution of your time (and a little of your money) or if you are just plain curious for now, please join us on July 27th.

If you plan to attend please RSVP (donna@wabashfeed.com) your intentions by Monday August 22nd so that we can plan for food and enough chairs.  When you RSVP, kindly send your current contact information (email, phone and address).  If you are a business, please provide a contact in your organization that we should be contacting regarding this Alliance. If you represent a civic association, please feel free to send this email to your members and/or include an announcement on your website or in your neighborhood newspaper.

It is my personal belief that all civic type meetings go better with a little food and a beer (or a soda, etc).  There is a lot of movement in our neighborhood. Most of it good. While that is exciting, I think it is important to know what is coming down the pike and at every opportunity to have a seat at the table while decisions are being made that might profoundly affect your world.   Like a wise person once remarked…” if you don’t have a seat at the table, you might find yourself on the menu!”
